Trammel's Trace Rendezvous Brings History to Life

Are you a pre-1840’s re-enactor, period vendor or entertainer?  Then you are invited to the Trammel's Trace Rendezvous at the Cypress Bayou RV Park, 1602 Highway 49 East, Jefferson, Texas.  The event will take place on November 13-15, with set-up beginning on November 12.

Mountain Men, Trappers and Indians get together on the bank of the Big Cypress Bayou to swap goods, tell stories and celebrate survival of another season.  Mr. Phil Cross, published Caddo bow-maker, traditional house builder and Caddo Nation cultural club drummer, will be our special guest on Saturday. Karma Farms will also be participating on Friday and Saturday with authentic Indian Mustangs.

There will be a drawing on Friday morning for a bow or black powder deer hunt on the property.  You must be a Living History participant on Friday to enter.  Bring authentic seasonings to cook the meat in your camp to share with your neighbors!

The Rendezvous is a learning and teaching experience and will be open to the public.  Pre-1840’s living history camp, demonstrations, primitive black powder shooting matches, tomahawk & knife throwing, period vendors, crafters & artisans, buckskinners and Texas History Re-enactors -- all are welcome.  Anyone participating in Friday's Living History will receive free admission to this event.  We will also have a drawing at 9:00 am on Friday morning for on bow and one black powder deer hunt on the property for participants in Friday's Day of Learning.

This event will take place outside and primitive overnight camping is included in the $5 per person, per day entry fee.  Water, showers and split wood are available.  Pre-1840’s dress is encouraged.  We will have an authentic camp area and an area for modern tents and RV's.  Our normal RV rates will apply.

You can come in on Wednesday or Thursday to set up your camp area.  Set-up will be on a first come, first served basis.  The Trade Fair will be open to Period Craftspeople and Vendors and will be located in a special area with lots of foot traffic.

School groups will be attending a Day of Learning on Friday, which will include structured tours.  If you are interested in being a part of our Living History Demonstrations, please let us know.

If you plan to attend, we encourage you to fill in the registration form on our website so that we can do advanced planning.

The RV Park is just one mile from Jefferson, Texas on the Big Cypress Bayou and offers boating, fishing and walking trails.  Jefferson, the Bed and Breakfast “Capital of Texas”, is nestled deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas and seems frozen in time.  It is a charming town and an elegant reminder of a bygone era.  For more information on Jefferson, please visit the Chamber of Commerce website at www.marioncountycoc.org or call them at 903-665-2672 or 888-GO RELAX.
