Trammel's Trace Rendezvous Brings History to Life
Are you a spectator that wants to have some fun? Then come to the Trammel's Trace Rendezvous at the Cypress Bayou RV Park, 1602 Highway 49 East, Jefferson, Texas. The event will take place on November 13-15, 2009. Admission is $5 per person, per day.
Mountain Men, Trappers and Indians get together on the bank of the Big Cypress Bayou to swap goods, tell stories and celebrate survival of another season. Mr. Phil Cross, published Caddo bow-maker, traditional house builder and Caddo Nation cultural club drummer, will be our special guest on Saturday. Karma Farms will also be participating on Friday and Saturday with authentic Indian Mustangs.
The Rendezvous is a learning and teaching experience and is open to the public. Pre-1840’s living history camp, demonstrations, primitive black powder shooting matches, tomahawk & knife throwing, period vendors, crafters & artisans, buckskinners and Texas History Re-enactors.
The Rendezvous will feature a Day of Learning on Friday, November 13, for educational groups, which will include a structured tour of Living History Demonstrations.
Spectators can also ride the authentic steam train to the during the entire event.
We have added a special narration suited to pre-1840’s aboard our Historic Jefferson Railway steam train. The route skirts the Big Cypress Bayou for a five-mile, half hour round trip that will stop at the Rendezvous and then pick you up again for your return.
Along the way, passengers view the only remaining Confederate powder magazine from the civil war era, the first artificial gas plant in the state, as well as other historic sites. For pricing, schedule and more information on our train, visit www.JeffersonRailway.com.
The RV Park is just one mile from Jefferson, Texas on the Big Cypress Bayou and offers boating, fishing and walking trails. Jefferson, the Bed and Breakfast “Capital of Texas”, is nestled deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas and seems frozen in time. RV Sites and camping are available for spectators.
